Pride 2011

Pride was basically awesome. I ended up marching in the parade, which was a blast and such a unique and wonderful opportunity.  And the weather couldn't have been nicer.  I've got a wicked sunburn to prove it.

I think Pride is such a great event.  And the fact that it keeps getting bigger is such a testament to how far Utah has come (and will continue to go).  Two years ago, I was completely unaware that Utah even had a Pride festival.  I was sure that kind of lewd behavior and debauchery was reserved for the "evil" cities, like San Francisco, Seattle and New York.  Fast forward two short years, and here I am, letting my gay flag fly proudly through the streets of downtown Salt Lake City!  My, how two years can completely change a person.

Of course I took tons of pictures.  Here are a few.  As many of my friends are still students at that Socialist Work Camp known as BYU, I am not posting any personal pictures.
The Utah Pride 2011 Grand Marshal, Roseanne Barr (who I got to meet at the Grand Marshal Reception on Friday night)!

What Pride Parade is complete without a few rainbow flags...

...and Drag Queens!
(I know you can't see her, but the bottom pic is Stacey Layne Matthews, from RuPaul's Drag Race!)

  2. I'm curious. What was it like being gay at a school like BYU?
